Reverend Dr. Carl Armstead
Reverend (Dr.) Carl Armstead is a native of Alexandria, Louisiana and he is a product of the Rapides Parish school system. He is a graduate of United Theological Seminary and Bible College of Monroe, Louisiana, where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Theology. Pastor Armstead also had the Doctor of Divinity Degree conferred upon him by Dr. B.F. Martin, president of the United Theological Seminary and Bible College, of Monroe, Louisiana, upon establishing the United Theological Seminary and Bible College, Port Arthur Extension Campus.
Pastor Armstead has been in the gospel ministry for twenty-six years and he has served in the Pastoral ministry for Twenty-five years. He served as Pastor of the Third Evergreen Baptist Church in Alexandria, LA for Ten years, Rock Island Baptist Church of Port Arthur, TX for Six years, and the Rose of Sharon Baptist Church for Eight years. During his Pastorate he served in many capacities. While at Third Evergreen B.C., he served as the Financial Secretary in the United Education District Association; Dean of Christian Education, in the Educational District Association; he served as the Chairman of the Alexandria City Wide Revival Committee; Instructor in the Alexandria Extension Campus of the United Theological Seminary & Bible College; Financial Secretary of the Home Mission Board; Corresponding Secretary of the Congress of Christian Education, in the LA Home & Foreign Mission Baptist State Convention.
During his Pastorate at the Rock Island B. C. and the Rose of Sharon B. C., Pastor Armstead organized the Willie Carter Community Drug Outreach Center. He organized the first City Wide Revival and served as the Chairman for Six years. He organized the Port Arthur Extension Campus of the United Theological Seminary & Bible College of Monroe, LA and served as the Director and Instructor. Pastor Armstead served as the Vice Moderator of the Eastern Progressive District Association; Vice President of the Port Arthur Minister’s Alliance and Lecturer on Christian Doctrine. He is the past President of the Progressive Baptist State Convention of Texas Inc.; a Board Member of the Evangelical Board of the National Baptist Convention, Dr. Stephen Thurston, President.
Dr. Armstead is married to the former Brenda Faye Davis of Alexandria, LA and is the proud father of four children; Carla, Lemont, Michael, and one foster child, Roderick Good; he is the grandfather of four.
